On select Saturdays this fall and winter, Tarry Market will offer educational experiences to take an in-depth look at the hand-made and artisanal products sold daily.

SCHEDULE

September 23rd from noon to 3pm
Hands-on class: Mozzarella, Burrata, Ricotta Making
Watch as Tarry Market Executive Chef Jon Katz demonstrates the making of mozzarella, burrata and ricotta from scratch. Then participate in a hands-on workshop to make your own mozzarella. Taste all three cheeses on their own, as well as in dishes that incorporate each cheese. Leave the class with take-home menus and recipes as well as your own mozzarella. Participants will receive a Tarry Market 20% discount shopping card.

September 30th from noon to 4pm
Tarry Market Septemberfest
This family-friendly event includes tastings of Italian and local brews for the adults and a self-guided market tour for kids. Enjoy a Bavarian lunch (choice of chicken schnitzel or bratwurst on a pretzel roll). Adult admission includes 10 beer tickets. Additional beer tickets may be purchased during the event for $1 each and can be redeemed for one pour at any participating beer station.

October 7th from noon–2pm
Hands-on Class: Focaccia and Pizza Making
Watch as Executive Chef Jon Katz demonstrates the making of focaccia and pizza dough. Then get your hands dirty and make your own pies. Taste two different pizzas, two different focaccias and take home your own dough. Participants will receive a Tarry Market 20% discount shopping card.

October 7th from 5pm to 6:30pm
Wine Class: Brunello di Montalcino
Sample four different expressions of Brunello di Montalcino during an educational conversation with Tarry Wine manager and sommelier Morgan Pruitt. Brunello comes from a vast area in Tuscany; travel as we taste examples of Brunello from the northernmost hills to the southern tip of Montalcino. October 14th from noon to 1:30pm
Goat-tober! Guided Tasting with Heritage Foods USA
Join Patrick Martins, Founder of  Heritage Foods USA, and Tarry Market’s Executive Chef Jon Katz for an Italian lunch featuring the most delicious meat most Americans have never tasted. Learn about the “No Goat Left Behind” project that supports sustainable New England Dairy Farmers and enjoy classic Italian dishes featuring goat meat. Participants will receive a Tarry Market 20% discount shopping card.

Game On! Guided Tasting with Fossil Farms
Join Executive Chef Jon Katz for a lunch featuring Fossil Farms game such as venison and elk. Fossil Farms is committed to producing all-natural, farm-raised exotic meats and game that are free of antibiotics, growth hormones and steroids. Guided Balsamic Tasting & Lunch with Italian Products
Join us for a 4-course light lunch featuring balsamic vinegar. Take guests on a guided tour of balsamic vinegar making and taste four balsamic vinegars. Event attendees will receive a 20% discount on the purchase of the balsamic vinegars sampled.

November 4th from noon to 2:30pm
Hands-on Class: Gnocchi and Pasta Making
Watch as Executive Chef Jon Katz makes the perfect pasta dough, then get your hands dirty making orecchiette and gnocchi. Enjoy a tasting of three pasta dishes and take home a few recipes. Participants will receive a Tarry Market 20% discount shopping card.

Wine Class: Barolo and Barbaresco
During this tasting of four wines– two from Barolo and two from Barbaresco–you will discover how the differences in location affect the style of a wine. A light snack of cheese & salumi will be served. Tickets are available online at tarrywine.com or call the wine shop at 914.939.7234.

December 2nd from noon to 1:30pm
Guided Olive Oil Tasting & Lunch
Please join us for a 3-course lunch with Nicholas Coleman, Chief Oleologist at Eataly and co-founder of Grove and Vine. Coleman will take guests on a guided tour of ancient olive groves and the process of single-estate olive oil making. This time around we will taste both Northern and Southern Hemisphere oils. Event attendees will receive a 20% discount on the purchase of the olive oils sampled.

Guided Truffle Tasting & Lunch with Urbani
Enjoy a 4-course lunch prepared with Urbani truffle products (truffle oils, honey, salt, pesto) while enjoying an educational conversation with an Urbani representative. One dish will feature freshly shaved white truffle! Founded around 1850, Urbani is one of the world’s oldest and most respected purveyors of fresh truffle. 20% discount on the purchase of products sampled.
